ποΈ General
Manage β Workspace settings β General shows the identity of the workspace you are in: its name, slug and id. It is read-only, because a workspace's name and lifecycle are managed centrally by platform admins.
ποΈ Members
Workspace settings β Access β Members controls who can use the workspace and with which role. Members can be single people or whole groups. A person's role decides what they can do in the workspace: view, build and edit, or administer.
ποΈ Roles & permissions
Workspace settings β Access β Roles & permissions shows what each workspace role can do in this workspace. It is a read-only view: roles are defined once for the whole platform and apply to every workspace.
ποΈ Databases
A database connection (shown in the UI as an engine connection) tells the workspace how to reach a query engine. SQL Lab, datasets, charts and dashboards run their queries through these connections. They are configured under Manage β Workspace settings β Connections β Engines.
ποΈ Shared objects
Workspace settings β Access β Shared objects is a workspace-wide roll-up of everything that has been shared with someone: dashboards, charts, datasets, folders, notebooks and saved queries, and who holds a grant on each. It is the place to audit sharing and to change it in one spot.
ποΈ Access requests
Workspace settings β Access β Access requests is the queue of people asking to join the workspace. A workspace admin approves a request, optionally time-boxed, or denies it.
ποΈ Notifications
Workspace settings β Workspace β Notifications sets how the workspace sends alerts and reports: the SMTP relay and from-address for email, and one Slack bot for Slack messages. Every workspace has its own settings, so two teams never share an identity or a sending reputation.
